The Wintel PC network device should already be configured, but if it is not, then you need to install a device driver before you can configure an IP address.Ī quick/crude way to test this setup is to use FTP. If you are using a NAT router, then you should use fixed private LAN address compatible with the device.

The network mask should be something like 255.255.255.0 for this kind of setup. This should be a private LAN IP address like 10.0.1.20 on the Mac and 10.0.1.21 on the Wintel.

If you are connecting both boxes directly, then you need to configure IP addresses on both boxes before they will connect.
